1st volume of a collection of shorts films shot on Super 8 in Geneva, inspired by Jiseiku (farewell poems) written by Samurais in the 16th and 17th centuries. I was touched by these texts, and furthermore by this concept of 'writing a last poem before dying’. Thus, in spite of the huge difference in cultures and eras, something has passed from these samurai to me. Let's say that it's this ‘passage’ that I'm trying to find with the films. It could be likened to an exercise in ‘drifting’ or psychogeography. Between contemplation, thought flows and other visual wandering experiences, I'm shooting images in Geneva to share/recapture/transmit the impressions and emotions conveyed by the texts.

I like to think about the plastic possibilities of cinema in conjunction with bodily exploration, in a quest for dynamism and surprise in the image. In this piece, there is an intrinsic theme of identity, memory, and displacement between Mexico and California, and the impression of those geographies on my gaze.

"Your Dream is my Dream" is a video about ancestral memory, shared identity and the collective unconscious. According to C. G. Jung we are all born with common patterns and ancestral memories, that he calls archetypes, that are the exact same ones throughout lands and cultures. These memories and the collective unconscious manifest itself mainly through art and dreams, particularly reoccurring dreams, that with minimal variations are indeed the same for all of us. We are all connected and somehow we all dream the same dreams. The chorus of reoccurring dreams in Your Dream is My Dream can be traced back to four main categories - impossibility, unpreparedness, self-consciousness and loss. Following a specific and different logic for each category, subtitles give additional body to the voices, both in Italian and in English.
