Pietro Lugaro Italy

Pietro Lugaro is an Italian artist and researcher based in Berlin whose work examines visual culture, archives, and the semiotics of form. Trained as a sculptor in Carrara and Urbino, he later moved to Germany, collaborating with Petrit Halilaj before joining New Practice in Art and Technology as a research assistant. His practice investigates dysfunctional systems as generative sites of tension and ambiguity, combining archival inquiry with performative, technological, and collective methods.

Lugaro’s work spans installations, performances, diagrams, and textual constructions that probe the shifting boundary between symbolic and presymbolic structures. He co-founded the cultural association Palazzo Bronzo in Genoa, where he curates exhibitions, manages archival material, and develops graphic and editorial projects. His previous activities include production work in contemporary art studios, photographic documentation, and participation in festivals such as Divago, UFFA, Segni della Notte, and Felicia Festival, alongside contributions to various video and multimedia events.

His projects have been presented in contexts including Ars Electronica, where he received the Campus Award for ACV (Algorithmic Cultural Vandalism), as well as Bauhaus Temporary Archive Berlin, Falling Walls, Garage OST, and DA Fest.
