Anna Schimrigk Germany

 

Anna Schimrigk, born in Berlin in 1992, is an actress, screenwriter, and director.

After studying acting at the Konrad Wolf Film University, she was nominated for the Studio Hamburg Award in the category “Best young Actress” in 2018 and has since appeared in numerous film and television productions.

As a screenwriter, she was awarded a scholarship from the Roger Willemsen Foundation in 2022, was part of the writing team for the series “Maxton Hall” (Amazon Prime), and was the creator and head writer of the ZDF neo series “BFF – Best Family Forever.” As part of her bachelor's thesis, Schimrigk wrote and directed her first play “Vier Frauen und ein Bernd” in 2015. This was followed by further productions at the Maxim Gorki Theater, Tik Berlin, and the Überzwerg children's and youth theater in Saarbrücken, among others.

She made her first short film, “Bianca Fucks Fear,” in 2023 as part of the Hmt-Kurzfilme Rostock under the patronage of Andreas Dresen.

 






Jonathan Howell USA / Portugal



Jonathan Howell, Executive Director, Big World Pictures Jonathan Howell is the organization’s Founder, Director, and Head of Acquisitions.
Jonathan earned an MA in Cinema Studies from New York University, and taught film history for two years at the Prague Film Academy (FAMU) and Anglo-American College in Prague.

From 1998-2003, he programmed short films, feature films and special programs at film collective Ocularis in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, as well as short film programs for festivals and venues in San Francisco and Barcelona.

From 2001 to 2009, he worked as film booker at pioneering foreign/independent film distributor New Yorker Films, moving to start-up Oscilloscope Laboratories in early 2009. He returned to New Yorker Films in 2010.

He is founder and programmer of The World According to Shorts, a non-profit organization specializing in exhibition and distribution of award-winning foreign short films.

I n 2013, Howell founded Big World Pictures as an offshoot to The World According to Shorts. Big World Pictures is a 501(c)-3 nonprofit focusing on US distribution of overlooked gems from the international film festival circuit. In addition to his above roles at Big World Pictures, he also manages the daily operations of the organization.




 

Thomas Panne Germany

 

Thomas Pfanne is a German lawyer and film executive with a long diplomatic career and a record in international cinema. His engagement with film began in 1974, when he won the Goldenes Bildfenster in a national competition and received an international bronze medal for the same work.

As a German diplomat in Quito, he directed a feature film that was selected for festivals in Moscow, New York, and Barcelona, where it was also presented in a museum context.

He later produced a dance film in Moscow that was broadcast on ARTE.

After returning from Moscow in 2000, Pfanne served as the Film Affairs Officer at the Federal Foreign Office, overseeing e.g. bilateral film agreements and Germany’s participation in the European Film Awards. He is now the CEO of Filmverstand UG, a company dedicated to high-quality filmmaking and socially relevant narrative culture
